Elder Law, Long-Term Care and Medicaid Planning, and Care Coordination
Chambliss has a compassionate elder law team who understands the challenges of our clients and assists with planning related to chronic illness, dementia, disability, and other circumstances. With a diverse set of skills and personal experience, we help clients and their families uncover all their options. Our elder law team consists of Tennessee licensed Social Workers, dedicated attorneys and paralegals, resident CPAs, a Certified Dementia Practitioner, and two of only a handful of Certified Elder Law Attorneys (CELA) in the Southeast. Additionally, our attorneys are members of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and Elder Law Answers. We take a holistic approach and provide a wide range of services including, but not limited to, assisted living referrals, tax compliance, benefits planning, elder abuse cases, crisis intervention, Alzheimer's and dementia consultations, and hospice support. We start by listening to our clients' goals and later deliver an action plan based on their financial, life insurance, health care, and long-term care needs. We are here to answer any questions about elder care management and make the process as stress-free as possible.
Our team works together to protect our clients' quality of life, independence, and peace of mind. We serve a wide variety of individuals and families, from elder orphans to high net worth business owners and their children. We provide in-depth consultations at our office or the client's location, preparation and review of life care plans, power of attorney documents, guardianships and conservatorships, Qualified Income Trusts (Miller Trusts), advance planning Medicaid Compliant Trusts, living trusts and wills, advance directives, and health care proxies. We assist clients with Medicare eligibility and other benefits planning, including matters related to SSI, SSDI, Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB), and veterans. In addition, we advise on long-term care plans, claims, and coordination. We treat our clients' concerns as if they were our own and work seamlessly with their circle of support, including health care providers and financial advisors. Our team advocates for clients' rights and helps them through life's most difficult transitions.
Our team is passionate about serving the aging community and has dedicated significant time to building a strong network of resources for our clients. We maintain relationships with state agencies, including local offices of the Social Security Administration and Veterans Affairs, and are connected to nonprofits, foundations, and social service organizations throughout the region.
In 2017, we launched the Embrace Aging Forum to address the evolving needs of older adults and their caregivers. Through this initiative and ongoing community outreach efforts, we have connected individuals and families to valuable resources and thoughtful conversations surrounding housing and care, relationships, health and wellness, finances, and legal planning. Embrace Aging featured nationally recognized speakers such as Ashton Applewhite, Dianne Gray, Marc Freedman, and Tembi Locke and helped foster meaningful dialogue around aging and caregiving in our community.
Today, our attorneys continue to support older adults, caregivers, and community partners through educational programs, speaking engagements, and ongoing outreach initiatives focused on the issues impacting older Americans and their families.
Our elder law team also provides regular updates to clients and firm partners featuring timely information, practical guidance, and helpful resources on a variety of elder care and planning topics.
