Class Actions
The Chambliss team of class action litigators has successfully defended clients in multiple jurisdictions across the country. Our experience includes the defense of wage and hour class and collective actions, misclassification cases, and environmental contamination matters. While we have defended clients in a number of industries, some of our most notable cases have been for financial institutions, manufacturers, consumer financing entities, and even a large group of retired teachers.
The key to the successful defense of a class action is planning and preparation to prevent the proposed class from being certified and to be ready for trial regardless. We work with our clients from the outset to develop strategies that are most likely to result in a denial of class certification. A successful strategy does not always require expensive litigation, and we also evaluate the benefits of alternative dispute resolution, especially if the case can be resolved before a class is certified. Our class action attorneys have built a track record of excellent results, due in large measure to our depth of experience, thorough preparation, attention to detail, and responsiveness.
We understand that class actions often put the future of a company at stake and are expensive to defend. We talk with our clients when the case begins to assess their risks and objectives and to strike the right balance between an aggressive defense, the need to manage litigation costs, and possible early resolution. This communication and continued assessment of strategy and costs continues throughout the case. We don't litigate for the sake of litigating but, instead, work to obtain the client's objectives in the most cost-efficient manner possible.
Our focus on client service and providing excellent results in complex litigation has led to recognition of our litigation team by Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America®, and Mid-South Super Lawyers. Two of our attorneys are members of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
