Chambliss Law Establishes Audit Counsel Service Area in Response to COVID-19
Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, P.C., is pleased to announce the addition of an audit counsel service area that proactively assists clients with strategy and preparation for future audits relating to the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, Paycheck Protection Program loans, Department of Health and Human Services Provider Relief Funds, and other legislative developments and financial opportunities that have arisen from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“For the last several months, Chambliss has served as a steadfast and go-to resource for businesses and nonprofits navigating the ever-changing circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said shareholder and section chair Cathy Dorvil. “As we look to the future and consider the aftermath of the pandemic, we are prepared to support our clients as anticipated audits into governmental relief funds begin.”
Cathy will lead the practice area, among the first in the region, that includes COVID-19 task force co-chairs Jim Catanzaro and Justin Furrow. Managing Shareholder Mark Cunningham, Courtney Keehan, Cal Marshall, Rachel Ragghianti, CPA, Jed Roebuck, and other team members will also proactively assist clients with strategy and preparation for future audits.
“This year has forced many businesses to make enterprise affecting choices in a complex legal world,” said Mark. “Chambliss is proud to be a trusted partner and advisor to individuals, businesses, and organizations who are navigating the best path forward as many government agencies have indicated that they plan to scrutinize and potentially challenge decisions made during this uncertainty. Our audit counsel service team is taking a proactive approach and will be prepared to assist our clients if and when needed.”
The future audits are expected to be conducted by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The audit counsel team will provide support for areas including compliance and government investigations, regulatory and administrative proceedings, tax, financial services, litigation and risk management, manufacturing, health care, and nonprofits.
