Chambliss Recognizes 2024 John C. Stophel Outstanding Students
Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, P.C. congratulates the 2023-2024 John C. Stophel Outstanding Students from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s (UTC) Gary W. Rollins College of Business for their exceptional achievements and dedication to academic excellence.
Sponsored by Chambliss, the John C. Stophel Outstanding Student (Stophel Scholars) Award fosters local talent and encourages promising students to build long-lasting relationships with Chattanooga professionals. Chambliss recognizes a select group of students as Stophel Scholars through an award that is presented annually to high-performing business students who have made significant civic contributions to UTC and the Gary W. Rollins College of Business while maintaining a strong academic record. Award recipients are chosen based on their strong leadership, decision-making, communication skills, and self-motivation.
The awards will be presented at the Gary W. Rollins College of Business Student Recognition Celebration, sponsored by Chambliss, on April 23, 2024. In addition to recognizing their accomplishments, the event will offer the seven award recipients, as well as the College of Business’s top honors students, student organization leaders, and other award recipients, an opportunity to interact and engage with Chattanooga’s business community.
This year’s recipients include:
- Mary Bennett, Finance
- Sara Mathews, Business Analytics
- Jacob Neuman, Accounting
- Ryan Nichols, Business Finance and Accounting
- Nadia San, Business Marketing
- Alexandra Sass, Management and Human Resource Management
- Mackayla Wall, Economics
“It’s my privilege to acknowledge the remarkable accomplishments of these seven students,” said President and Managing Shareholder Mark Cunningham. “We’re honored to be a part of this milestone in their lives and help make this opportunity possible. In addition, Chambliss remains committed to Mr. Stophel’s mission of enhancing professional development opportunities for our future leaders by partnering with UTC.”
Chambliss established an endowment at UTC in 2008 to honor the legacy of Mr. John C. Stophel, a founding member of the firm. Stophel practiced law for over 50 years, leading numerous civic, charitable, and religious efforts to benefit the Chattanooga community. He additionally served as chairman of the University of Chattanooga Foundation Board of Trustees from 2001 to 2004.
