Sally Brewer will present “Miller Trusts: Common Hurdles” at the Southeast Tennessee Area Agency on Aging and Disability‘s quarterly CHOICES meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026. Her presentation will explore common challenges individuals and families encounter when establishing and administering Miller Trusts, while highlighting practical steps to help avoid costly delays and complications.
If a Miller Trust is created or managed incorrectly, it could jeopardize an individual’s Medicaid eligibility. Sally will discuss the importance of:
- Seeking experienced legal counsel to assist with the creation and administration of a Miller Trust
- Selecting an appropriate trustee for a Miller Trust
- Ensuring powers of attorney include the authority necessary to establish irrevocable trusts
- Properly drafting trust documents to avoid complications
