Doug Griswold Named Chambliss Law’s Health Care and Nonprofit Chair
Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, P.C. is pleased to announce shareholder Doug Griswold is the new section chair for the firm’s health care and nonprofit service groups, which advise industry leaders across the country on the latest laws and regulations that drive their most important business decisions. Doug follows Jim Catanzaro, who previously served as section chair and remains an active member of both sections.
“Doug is a natural servant leader for our firm,” said President and Managing Shareholder Mark Cunningham. “While highly skilled in his own health care practice, he is also quick to lead and develop the rest of the team. Over the years, his intentional approach has had a notable impact on the development of our team, client base, and services overall.”
Doug joined the firm in 2008 and has been a key member of the health care section as he assists clients all over the southeastern United States and across the country. He often represents for profit and nonprofit health care organizations in a variety of business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, asset and stock purchase transactions, and joint venture arrangements. He also assists providers with physician employment and equity arrangements, professional service arrangements, state licensing and certification issues, billing and coding matters, and compliance/regulatory guidance.

Chambliss focuses on being responsive, trustworthy, and well-connected counsel for the clients they serve. The team has extensive experience serving regional and national leaders of public and private health care and billing companies, provider groups, home and community-based organizations, and investors on matters related to mergers and acquisitions, revenue cycle management, compliance, privacy, litigation, and beyond.
Doug has been recognized by Super Lawyers® as a Mid-South Rising Star for multiple years. He is a member of the American Health Law Association and Chattanooga Medical Group Managers Association. Doug also serves on the board of directors for the Tennessee Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth and is a frequent speaker for industry organizations such as the Association of Corporate Counsel and the Tennessee and Georgia state chapters of the Medical Group Managers Association. He is involved in serving his community through Partners and Peers for Diabetes Care and Mountain Education Foundation.
He graduated from Harvard University cum laude and the William & Mary Law School.
