Bill Aiken Honored with Baylor Distinguished Alumnus Award
Baylor School recognized shareholder Bill Aiken with its Distinguished Alumni Award on October 3, 2025. Bill was honored for his achievements as a top scholar-athlete and outstanding student while at school, and for the respected legal career he went on to build. He has remained loyal to Baylor by serving in several positions over the years, including president of the Alumni Association, member of the Board of Trustees, and co-chair for two of Baylor’s capital campaigns. Most notably, Bill established a merit-based scholarship in 2024, the Aiken Scholarship Award, to support future students who demonstrate honor, character, and a drive to make a positive difference in the world.
Bill remains deeply engaged in serving his community through leadership, education, and philanthropy. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chattanooga, where he received the Man & Youth Award and was later inducted into the Tennessee Boys & Girls Clubs Hall of Fame. Bill also serves on the boards or in leadership roles with several other organizations, including the Public Education Foundation, the Haitian School Project through the Church of the Good Shepherd, the Chattanooga Community Kitchen, the McKenzie Foundation, the Songbirds Foundation, the Whitwell High School Foundation, and his alma mater, Baylor School. He has also shared his time and experience with organizations such as the Chattanooga Theatre Centre and the Chattanooga Public Library. In higher education, Bill previously served on the Vanderbilt Law School Alumni Board and the University of North Carolina (UNC) Board of Visitors, and he is a current member of the UNC Chapel Hill Arts & Sciences Dean’s Leadership Council.
“We are proud to see Bill receive this well-deserved honor,” said President and Managing Shareholder Steve Barham. “Baylor is recognizing what we at Chambliss have been grateful to witness for years, Bill’s leadership and unwavering dedication to serving our community, which truly have reinforced the community-driven values we champion at our firm.”
