Chambliss Team Spends 2022 MLK Day of Service Serving the Chattanooga Area Food Bank
For years, Chambliss has joined businesses, schools, and other organizations across the Chattanooga area in volunteering to commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. For this year’s national day of service (“A Day on, Not a Day off”), Chambliss team members spent the morning giving back to the community by volunteering at the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. Some of our volunteers weighed and sorted thousands of pounds of sweet potatoes, enough for more than 400 families, for their mobile delivery program. Others boxed nonperishable food items for distribution.
The Chattanooga Area Food Bank works toward eliminating hunger and promoting better nutrition by serving 20 counties in Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia. Working with retailers, manufacturers, farmers, buying alliances, and donors allows the Food Bank to distribute over 17 million pounds of food each year.
In the weeks leading up to the national day of service, our employees collected donations for organizations serving the MLK Boulevard area, such as the Community Kitchen, Maclellan Shelter for Families, and ArtsBuild. President and Managing Shareholder Mark Cunningham and Executive Director Tony Young dropped off a truckload of donations at the City of Chattanooga’s celebration event.
