Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, P.C. congratulates the 2026-2027 John C. Stophel Distinguished Students from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s (UTC) Gary W. Rollins College of Business for their exceptional achievements and dedication to academic excellence.
This year’s recipients include:
- Dylan DeHart, Finance
- Reagan Frase, Management
- Ainsley Henderson, Accounting
- Jayda Turner, Management
- Briana White, Accounting
“This year’s five scholarship recipients exemplify the best of what can be achieved through leadership, determination, and community engagement. That’s the very core of the scholarship’s principles,” said Chambliss President and Managing Shareholder Steve Barham. “We proudly support students who showcase academic excellence and make a meaningful impact on the community and the lives around them.”
The John C. Stophel Distinguished Student Award is given annually to high-achieving business students who have made significant and meaningful civic contributions to UTC and the Gary W. Rollins College of Business while maintaining a strong academic record. Award recipients are chosen for outstanding leadership, decision-making, and communication skills, as well as a high level of self-motivation.
“I’m always impressed by our Stophel Scholars. Not only do they lead their peers by example, but they also demonstrate commitment to academics and community service,” said Dean of the Gary W. Rollins College of Business Robert Dooley. “This partnership with Chambliss gives our students a chance to connect with mentors and learn from people who have been in their shoes. We’re grateful for their commitment to recognize the accomplishments of these outstanding students.”
Chambliss established an endowment at UTC in 2008 to honor the legacy of John C. Stophel, whose leadership was instrumental in shaping our firm’s culture following the merger that formed Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, P.C. in 1997. Throughout more than 50 years of practicing law, Stophel led numerous civic, charitable, and religious initiatives to benefit the Chattanooga community. Additionally, he served as chairman of the University of Chattanooga Foundation Board of Trustees from 2001 to 2004.
