Hamilton County Health Department Announced Expansion of Risk-Based Eligibility for COVID-19 Vaccines Phase 2a and 2b Beginning March 22
The state of Tennessee announced it will transition to Phase 2a and 2b of the vaccination plan on Monday, March 22. These phases include Tennesseans employed in “critical infrastructure industries.” The full employment list for each phase is included below. This transition occurs earlier than the projected timeline for Phase 2a and 2b rollouts. State officials originally expected Phase 2b would go into effect at the end of the second quarter. This expansion means that any individual living or working in Hamilton County qualifying under the Phase 2a or 2b categories may begin scheduling a COVID-19 vaccination on Monday, March 22. The Hamilton County Health Department recommends scheduling appointments online at health.hamiltontn.org. Any eligible person without internet access may schedule the appointment through the call center. The call center for first dose appointments can be reached at (423) 209-5398.
The call center lines are open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Any caller experiencing a busy signal is encouraged to hang up and call back.
Phase 2a Includes:
Tennesseans employed in the following critical infrastructure industries:
- Social Services (DCS) (includes child welfare agency personnel with direct public exposure)
- Commercial agriculture
- Commercial food production
- Corrections staff not included in 1a1 (includes administrative staff, those without regular public/inmate contact)

Phase 2b Includes:
