Chambliss Expands Intellectual Property and Labor and Employment Base With New Hires
Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, P.C. recently welcomed two new attorneys – Stephen Adams and Matt Wayne. They join the firm’s intellectual property and labor and employment practice areas, which were recently ranked by the 2018 Chambers USA® Guide: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business report.
Stephen, a registered patent attorney and mechanical engineer, joins the firm’s intellectual property group whose patent attorneys and engineers have over 60 years of combined legal experience.
“Stephen comes to us with more than six years of experience with a respected intellectual property boutique firm. He has written and prosecuted patent applications in a variety of mechanical and electrical arts and is also experienced in negotiating and drafting various intellectual property related agreements, handling matters relating to trade secrets, and filing and prosecuting trademark registration applications and copyright claim registration applications,” said David Hill, intellectual property chair at Chambliss.
Stephen represents individuals, startups, corporations, governmental entities, and universities. His clients rely on him for his attention to detail and personal approach in his work on patents, trademarks, and copyrights in industries ranging from food and beverage to tourism, sports, and wellness. He received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Tennessee (UT).
Matt brings a variety of litigation experience to the firm’s labor and employment section, counseling clients on employment disputes and advising them on federal and state workplace laws and regulations.

Matt works with clients primarily in the education, food and beverage, manufacturing, and service industries. In addition to representing and defending clients before governmental agencies, he proactively counsels employers on hiring, firing, discipline, leave, wage and hour laws, and reasonable accommodations.
Matt received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and his law degree from the UT College of Law. Matt is a Chattanooga Bar Association Young Lawyers Division board member, member of the UTC GOLD Council and local Rotaract Club, and a volunteer for the Lookout Mountain Conservancy.
