Richard W. Bethea

Richard is a trial lawyer who focuses his practice on helping individuals and businesses - small and large - preserve, protect and defend their long-term interests against current or future threats. He believes that the key to serving firm clients successfully begins with a complete understanding of their concerns and interests from their perspective. A firm grasp of the business culture, its products, services, markets, competitors and regulatory environment, or an individual's needs, concerns, motivations and actions are critical elements in helping the client avoid or minimize risk.

He has served as lead counsel in cases in 35 states and has been involved in the handling of litigation in Canada, Great Britain, France, Switzerland, Brazil and Australia. One client faced with multi-jurisdictional litigation, which drew the attention of the national media, called upon Richard to handle its litigation nationally and to serve as its spokesperson on NBC's Dateline program.

When litigation or arbitration is inevitable in order to best protect the client, Richard brings three decades of highly successful trial experience to bear in protecting the client's interest. Clients' needs have led Richard to focus his practice on:

  • product liability defense
  • manufacturer's risk prevention
  • patent infringement
  • misappropriation of trade secrets
  • commercial disputes
  • consumer finance claims
