Chambliss Attorney Alex McVeagh Named Volunteer Lawyer of the Year by CBA Young Lawyers Division

At its recent annual meeting, the Chattanooga Bar Association named Alex McVeagh as the 2016 Young Lawyers Division (YLD) Volunteer Lawyer of the Year. Each year, the Chattanooga Bar Association (CBA) gives this award to a member of the bar who has served his or her community through pro bono legal service and through service to CBA YLD.
Alex practices law in our litigation and risk management section, where he works alongside last year's award winner, Jeffrey Maddux. Alex specializes in municipal law, bankruptcy law, and product liability defense. He also currently serves on the board of the Tennessee Bar Association's YLD, which recently recognized him as YLD Star of the Quarter. In addition, Alex is the journal editor for the Chattanooga Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, serves on the board of the YMCA's Youth Community Action Program (Y-CAP), and is a member of Rotaract, where he works with high school students through the Lookout Mountain Conservancy and Howard High School.
At the CBA annual meeting, Corrin Fulton, outgoing president of the CBA YLD, recognized Alex's service and organization of pro bono expungement clinics, as well as clinics to provide free wills to local law enforcement and first responders. In addition, incoming Chattanooga Bar Association President Bill Colvin announced that Alex will be serving on the CBA's unauthorized practice of law committee, which will work with the state's attorney general and board of professional responsibility to help crack down on unlicensed and out-of-state attorneys who illegally solicit clients and attempt to practice law in Tennessee.
Congratulations, Alex!
