Special Needs Planning

A team clients trust. The care loved ones deserve.

Caring for a loved one with special needs is a journey characterized by the unexpected and often the unknown, but that’s where we come in. Our interdisciplinary team of special needs attorneys and certified care coordinators have personal experience with close family members living with a mental illness or developmental disabilities. We draw from our personal and professional experience to partner with clients and understand their needs and goals. Working with parents and guardians to map out a holistic plan addressing their loved one’s legal, financial, and personal care needs, is the core of what our special needs team does. We examine each client's options and choose the best route to minimize future expenses and maximize family protection.

A People-Centered Practice
At Chambliss, we’re about the person— not simply the issues. We start by listening to our clients' goals and concerns so we can develop a personalized, proactive, and adjustable care plan. Each plan is designed to grow with a loved one's special needs child or adult family member as they grow. Through this transitional planning, we work to ensure the whole of a client's loved one’s needs are met, including coordinating:

  • College savings
  • Medical debt management
  • Rehabilitation therapy
  • Housing needs
  • Special needs trusts
  • Transportation
  • Special needs jobs and volunteer opportunities

Our clients can expect a peace of mind, minimized stress, and confidence knowing their loved one is cared for fully after age 18 and beyond.

Making Sense of the Complex
As government regulations often change with the shifting of the wind, having someone to help navigate through the maze of disability agencies and departments, Medicaid, Medicare, and other government benefits programs is critical. As a member of the Academy of Special Needs Planners, we stay up-to-date on the rules and regulations needed to ensure continued eligibility, long-term provision, and access to new services— consistently advocating for optimal services and benefits for our clients and their loved ones.
