Bill Dearing is Chair of the firm's Litigation Section, focusing his practice on product liability and personal injury litigation. He also handles complex contract, commercial and insurance coverage disputes.
Bill's jury trial experience is significant and national. He has represented clients before juries in multiple jurisdictions, including Tennessee, Georgia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and California. He has a remarkable success rate. He has represented clients in numerous jurisdictions and in over 20 States. Currently, he is actively litigating cases in Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Missouri, and California. In addition to conducting dozens of trials, Bill has successfully handled numerous appeals, including appearances before the Tennessee Court of Appeals, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Bill has extensive litigation experience defending products whose design or manufacture is alleged to cause injury. During his two decades of product defense, he has successfully defended a vast array of products including mobile construction equipment, conveyors, industrial rock crushers, augers, hot oil heaters, and asphalt plants. He serves as national counsel for a large manufacturer of industrial equipment.
As Chair of the firm's Personal Injury Litigation Group, Bill has extensive experience overseeing serious personal injury claims involving trauma, dismemberment, brain injury, and wrongful death. He has obtained several million-dollar-plus jury verdicts and negotiated settlements on behalf of his clients.
